If a citrus freeze is declared, our office takes additional measures to protect consumers and maintain market integrity. After freezing temperatures, inspectors evaluate citrus fruit for freeze damage, examining the internal condition of the fruit to identify issues like dry pulp or juice loss that may compromise quality. Fruit that does not meet quality standards is removed from the market to prevent the sale of substandard products.
