Asian Citrus Psyllid / Huanglongbing Program

The ACP/HLB Program in Ventura County is a collaborative effort between our department and the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) to protect the citrus industry. The program is funded, in part, and supported by stakeholders in the citrus industry. We issue and enforces compliance agreements, ensuring adherence to quarantine and regulatory standards. Regular inspections are conducted on citrus shipments, harvesting, and packing operations to verify compliance with labeling and handling requirements. Public outreach is a key component, aimed at educating growers, packers, and the community about ACP and HLB prevention and management. In collaboration with CDFA, our department participates in surveying for pest and disease presence and coordinates the removal of HLB-positive trees. This integrated approach helps safeguard the county’s citrus crops while supporting the industry’s sustainability and growth.
