About Us

There are 55 Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers of Weights & Measures in 58 counties across California. They are part of a network of regulatory agencies charged with enforcing laws and regulations affecting agriculture, and weights & measures.

The Ventura County Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures operates under a unique relationship with various governing authorities. It is funded by federal, state, and local sources to regulate the agricultural industry while also collecting fees for services provided.

The Commissioner/Sealer is licensed by the State of California and is appointed to a four-year term by the County Board of Supervisors.
